This morning we went to My Tho Immigration office to apply for a temporary residence card for myself as the spouse of a Vietnam Citizen but was denied because I cannot show that I have lived in Vietnam for an uninterrupted stay of 36 months. This is confusing as a spouse of a Vietnamese citizen I only got a 5 year visa waiver attached to my passport but it required I exit Vietnam every 6 months. How in the world could I have achieved a 36 month uninterrupted stay if I have to leave Vietnam once every 6 months or cannot stay in Vietnam more than 6 months even though I have complied I have actually been living in Vietnam for 4 years now ? We got new from a practicing and licensed attorney here in Vietnam that this coming July 2020 even if you have a visa waiver and married to a Vietnam Citizen spouse you will be required to possess a temporary or permanent residence card so how in the world is one going to be able to comply?

as I am an educator living in Vietnam for more than 15 years. My son from my first marriage just passed away from brain cancer and I went back to be with him in his final days. His funerql was this past weekend in the USA. I have just tried to book a ticket but was advised I would not be allowed to enter re-enter Vietnam because my passport has 4 months remaining not 6. Are there any exceptions made for those holding a Temporary Resident Card. I work as a school administrator in Nha Trang.

I have a legal vietnamese spouse. Which is advisable for my case: 5-year visa exemption or temporary resident card (TRC)? What are the requirements and procedures for obtaining: - 5-year visa exemption - temporary resident card (TRC) Thank you.

Dear Sir I am a British Citizen living and working in Ho Chi Minh City. I have a Temporary Residence card issued through my employer which expires on 26/07/2019 when my initial contract expired. Last year I was given a new work contract which expires in July 2020. I am now married to a Vietnamese Citizen and believe I can apply for a residence card as I am married to her. We are applying for UK visa for holiday and it would be helpful if I had a resident card which DID NOT expire in July 2019, but instead expires later. Can I apply now for a new TRC or must I wait until expiry of current TRC. What is the longest amount of time I can get a TRC for? If I can apply for new TRC how long would application take? What documents would I need to submit. As well as email, you can Viber or call me on +84 (0)94 456 0473 Many thanks Ben Nagy
