Removing Covid-19 additional restrictions for foreigners entering Vietnam from January 18th, 2022

In the past time, it has been difficult for foreigners (including foreigners, Vietnamese residing abroad and their relatives) to enter Vietnam due to Covid-19 additional restrictions such as personnel inspection procedures, re-issuance of visa / visa exemption certificate, applying for entry approval  (entry permit) from local authorities.

Considering the reports of Vietnam Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on initiatives to ease COVID-19 restrictions for foreigners” entry, Vietnam Permanent Deputy Prime Minister named Pham Binh Minh has agreed to remove Covid-19 additional restrictions for foreigners entering Vietnam according to Official Letter No. 450/VPCP-QHQT dated January 18, 2022 of Goverment Office of Vietnam as follows:

1. All foreigners sponsored by individuals/entities in Vietnam in accordance with Vietnam”s immigration laws are eligible to enter
Vietnam, except for foreign tourists, who must still follow Vietnam”s current pilot programs on welcoming foreign tourists.

2. Foreigners, overseas Vietnamese and their relatives with valid entry documents (visas, visa exemption certificates or
temporary/permanent residence cards) are allowed to enter Vietnam in accordance with Vietnam”s immigration laws, Government”s Decree No. 82/2015/ND-CP dated September 24, 2015 without having to do the undergo procedures on personnel checks or re-issuance of visas, apply for additional entry approval (entry permit) from the competent authorities or localities

3.For foreigners who have not obtained visas, provincial People”s Committees will continue to review and facilitate
approvals for entry purposes (entry permit), such as working, meeting, studying and on a humanitarian basis within the province.

Removing Covid-19 additional restrictions for foreigners entering Vietnam according to Official Letter No. 450/VPCP-QHQT dated January 18, 2022 of the Office of the Government of Vietnam will go to force from signing date.
